Shoe Guru: Christian Louboutin

Brigette 140 platform

Shoe guru, Christian Louboutin spoke with FashionWeekDaily in New York City last week; check out what was on his mind!!

A Moment With...Christian Louboutin

(NEW YORK) Christian Louboutin is the undisputed king of It shoes these days--a sentiment proven by the unending line of loyal fans who came out to Bergdorf Goodman on Thursday to meet him and have their red soles signed. For four hours, Louboutin (who was only in town until Friday) scribbled away, but The Daily snuck a moment with the master to chat about, among other things, his biggest superfan.
EMILY GYBEN

Do you like doing these events?
I do! But I wouldn't do it every day, that's for sure!

Does anyone ask you to sign anything crazy?
There was an ice skate! Last time, there was someone who wanted to tattoo my name, so he wanted it on his ass--which I had never seen before!

Did you ever think that you'd reach this level?
I never thought about that! But everything is possible, so it's nice. It's nice that people are pleased. It's good that people think about these things, that they have a fantasy.

Who is your favorite shoe designer, other than yourself?
Of now? Alaïa.

How is designing shoes for specific designers' collections different from your process alone?
It is different, it is because it puts you in a different situation. When I'm thinking shoes I'm thinking details, silhouette, etc.--but I really think in terms of details. When you work with designers, you have to fade your idea into another idea. I never think clothes when I'm designing shoes, so when I work with designers, it's a different attitude. It's a nice challenge.

So you would never branch into designing clothes yourself?
Never! Never, that's my idea of hell. I was asked to do a line. I was like, 'Are you crazy?'

Forever 21 Gets An Upgrade

At Fox Hills Mall in Los Angeles. It's no secret that Forever 21 is one of my favorite, affordable stores that I visit quite often, so I was in for a treat when I stopped by to see that it had been transformed into a two story palace. I have to admit, I was like a kid in a candy store! Here are a few pictures I snapped as I perused the entire store. If you are in the Los Angeles area, stop by, you'll be pleasantly surprised!!!

Vintage Black

Prada introduces L'eau Ambree—the new fragrance for women.

L'Eau Ambree combines notes of cedrat, rose de mai, and amber (I love amber). The Sicilian citrus top note of cedrat is refreshing yet rich, giving an unexpected grace and balance to the fragrance. At the heart of the fragrance is rose de mai, buttery, light, and above all sensual, it is the essence of femininity. The base notes consists of an evocative ambery dry down based on patchouli, vanilla and opoponax.

The 2.7 ounce Deluxe Refillable Atomizer which can be purchased at Neiman Marcus reminds me of old prefume bottles on my grannys' vanity table, I love it!!

L.A. Fashion Week: Eduardo Lucero Spring 2010

For his Spring 2010 presentation, Eduardo Lucero looked to his latin roots and gave a dark romantic collection. With chiffons, sheer laces with opaque black crepes, intricate embellishments, and gorgeous detailing. Beautiful and feminine, while at the same time mysterious and dramatic. Some looks were elegantly paired with dramatic hats, feather hair accessories. This collection had the 30's and 40's glamour written all over it.

In attendance for this cocktail hour of fashion delights was his close friend Louis Verdad, whose collection was also showcased at L.A. FAshion Week. Cynthia Ruiz the fashion ambassador to the mayors office and you guessed it Mayor Villaraigosa. Of course, there were fashion lovers, enthusiasts, writers, and supporters all there to witness the design genius on display.

Sassy Shoe Saturdays #8

Animal print is huge this season; so kick your wardrobe up another notch with these lovely booties by Yves Saint Laurent, which can be worn to the boardroom as well as a night out on the town with that special someone. I love the platform because it makes for easier walking and you don't feel like you're on stilts, instead, you are more balanced.

Bundle Up

I love the cold weather because that is the time to bundle up in warm, fabulous clothing and accessories. Boots and peacoats are my winter staples.

Kim Kardashian looks effortlessy chic in her navy blue peacoat and chocolate thigh high boots. A few years ago, I actually purchased a similar navy peacoat that Kim is wearing, and I got it from one of my favorite thrift stores for about $29.
